JACKSONVILLE, Ark. - Raymond F. Bernt, 92, of Jacksonville, Ark., formerly of Columbus, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at the Rebsman Regional Medical Center in Jacksonville.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus, with the Rev. Joe Miksch officiating. Burial is at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus.
Mr. Bernt was born Oct. 7, 1913, in Platte Center to Gustav and Theresa (Greisen) Bernt. He attended District No. 25 Platte County School.
He married Catheryn Good on Oct. 14, 1937, in Central City. He entered the United States Navy and served during World War II from 1944-45. Raymond owned his own sheet metal business for over 20 years in Columbus before retiring to Jacksonville in 1988.
He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Jacksonville and a the order of Eagles.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald (Connie) Bernt of Cabot, Ark., two sons, John (Beth) Bernt of Columbia, Mo., and Gustaf (Linda) Bernt of Beebe, Ark.; two daughters, Judy Davis and Donna Aldrich, both of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Theresa Bernt; his wife, Catheryn Bernt; one son, Raymond Bernt; two daughters, Marie Bernt and Catheryn Bernt; two grandchildren, Ronna and Christopher; and two sons-in-law, Ed Davis and John Aldrich.
Memorials are suggested to St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus or St. Jude Catholic Church in Jacksonville.
