Dr. Marvin "Scott" Haswell went to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 6, 2024, following a six-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Scott, an avid outdoorsman, worldwide traveler, dedicated physician, devoted husband, father and friend, epitomized the phrase "live life to its fullest."
Scott was born February 26, 1952, to Marvin and Maxine Haswell, and grew up in Orchard, NE. Upon graduating from Orchard High School, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating in 1974. He served in the military until 1991, when he joined civilian life and began a decades long career as an OB/GYN.
He married his wife, Sherilyn (Caskey) Haswell, in 1975, and the couple welcomed three daughters over the years, Andrea, Erin, and Caitlin. Scott was happiest spending time with his family, telling stories of his many adventures, or just enjoying the sounds of the woods behind his home. We hope you remember him, when the smell of burnt leaves starts to signal the start of fall (hunting season,) when a dad joke makes you groan, or when you're moved to tears watching a war movie. We love you, Scott. We'll see you again.
Scott is survived by his parents, Marvin and Maxine Haswell; his wife, Sherilyn Haswell; sister, Angela (Larry) Kummer; brother, Brett (Cheryl) Haswell; his children, Andrea (David) Spiczynski, Erin (Luke) Wojcik, and Caitlin (David) Ferron; and his eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Donald Caskey; brothers; and sisters-in-law; in addition to a host of beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Edith Howard, Glen and Elva Haswell, and Harlan and Ruby Miller; mother-in-law, Coralyn (Anderson) Caskey; and his nephew, Kyle Kummer.
Scott loved nothing more than telling a good story, so please join us at his celebration of life to share some of your own.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of his favorite charities Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Boy Scouts of America or to a Multiple Myeloma foundation of your choosing.
