LOUP CITY - Troy D. Schultz, 33, of rural Loup City, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island with the Reverend Martin L. Egging officiating. Burial will be at the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm. Wednesday at the St. Josaphat's Catholic Church, 704 N. 9th Street in Loup City, with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m.
Troy was born July 25, 1974 in Schuyler, the son of Terry Schultz and Mary (Bosselman) Sahling. Troy was raised in Schuyler until age six when he moved to Grand Island. He attended Stolley Park School, Barr Junior High and graduated from Grand Island Senior High Class of 1992.
Growing up, Troy worked for his father and grandfather Schultz and farmed with his grandfather, Fred Bosselman. He worked in his father's and grandfather's restaurant, Johnny's Steak House in Schuyler and Columbus.
He married Melissa Shotkoski on June 24, 1995. They lived in Worms until moving to the McAlpine Ranch northwest of Loup City in 1998. He ranched and co-founded Scientific Crop Agronomy, Inc. - Pioneer Seeds in 2005.
He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church, Sons of the American Legion in Loup City, served on the Loup City Board of Education, coached Little League and flag football in Loup City. The ranch was his passion and Troy enjoyed family and friends.
Survivors are his wife, Melissa; son, Trevor Lyn Schultz; daughter, Mallery Rose Schultz; father and stepmother, Terry and Holly Schultz of Columbus; mother and step father, Mary and Scott Sahling of Worms; brother, Travis Schultz of Columbus; sister, and brother-in-law, Tracy and Tom Gardner of Grand Island; grandparents, Kenneth and Lois Schultz of Columbus and Maxine Bosselman of Grand Island; and step grandparents, Marvin and Wanda Hanson of Schuyler.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Fred Bosselman; cousin, Bryan Graves; and step grandparents, LaMont and Donna Sahling.
All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial fund will be established in memory of Troy.
