CRESTON - Viola Weber, 96, of Creston, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at the Stanton Health Care Center in Stanton.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Creston with the Rev. Jim Ernst officiating. Interment will be in Creston Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and 9-10 a.m. Thursday, with a 9:45 a.m. family prayer service, at the church.
Viola was born April 10, 1920, in Grand Prairie Township, Platte County, to William and Amalia (Muth) Hellbusch. She grew up on a farm in the St. John's Lutheran Church area where she also attended school. On Jan. 30, 1946, Viola was united in marriage to Earl Weber at St. John's Lutheran Church. They moved to Creston where they lived all their lives. Viola was a homemaker and member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where she was active in the altar guild. She enjoyed flowers, birds and gardening and had a love for dogs. Viola also liked to bake, cook and play cards.
Viola is survived by her son, Dean (Barbara) Weber of Creston; daughter, Sheryl (Dale) Kurpgeweit of Leigh; grandchildren, Shanell (Mark) McAllister, Lynn (Tom) McDonald, Mike (Sandra) Kurpgeweit, Vicki Kurpgeweit and special friend Joey Meers, Suzie Kurpgeweit, Connie (John) Borchers, Chad (Jenny) Kurpgeweit and Scott (Jessica) Kurpgeweit; 14 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, William and Amalia Hellbusch; husband, Earl Weber; grandchildren, Debra, Brian and Todd Kurpgeweit; sisters, Elsie Blessen and Olga Hellbusch; and brothers, Walter and Emil Hellbusch.
