Leonard Vargas Obituary
Leonard worked as a butcher at Litvak for 25 years prior to retiring. He began a second career as a mail carrier at the Boulder Post Office, a job he truly loved. He loved to work hard and never missed a day of work. Leonard is still referred to as "The Legend".
In his spare time, Leonard loved to coach youth baseball and wrestling. He coached several generations of Brighton youth. He enjoyed bowling with his wife, Dorothy, and even bowled in a few tournaments. He loved to fish with his family on area rivers. Leonard also loved the Broncos and loved taking trips to the family cabin in Cripple Creek to enjoy gambling, concerts, dancing and good times.
Above all else, Leonard loved spending time with his wife and children and loved his grandchildren dearly. He was a patient, kind, generous, proud man and would always go out of his way to help others. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 57 years, of Brighton; children, Mark Vargas of Brighton, Ken Vargas of Lafayette, Jason Vargas of Brighton and Pilar (Brian) Anich of Brighton; eight grandchildren, Michelle, Kyle (Samantha), Logan (Ashley), Paige (Khalid) Miranda (Chance) Anthony, Nathan, Kaleigh, and Chelsea (Richard); seven great-grandchildren, Asher, Kai, Kelbran, Kaya, Logan Leonard and Elena. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
A Rosary will be at 7 p.m., Aug. 19, at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton, which handled the arrangements. Visitation begins at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial begins at 11 a.m., Aug. 20, at St. William Catholic Church, 1025 Fulton Ave., Fort Lupton. Interment follows at Hillside Cemetery.
