DEANNA RADIN LUBIN, 64, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on May 2, 2016, at her longtime home in Memphis. Mrs. Lubin's deep love for Israel was exceeded only by her devotion and commitment to her parents, Ralph and Minette Radin, her husband and high school sweet-heart, Leonard Lubin; her children – Yedida, Chaim and Bracha and her host of doting grandchildren. Born in Memphis, she was active in the Fannie Brenner Chapter of B'nai B'rith Girls, graduated from White Station High School, and studied at The Ohio State University.

Following their marriage in 1971, Deanna and Leonard travelled across Europe to Israel, where they were considering residing when his father, the late Dr. Herman Lubin, passed away. They returned to Memphis to run the White Way Pharmacy, a classic, family owned Memphis drug store fitted out with soda fountain, grill, and countless sundries. Deanna, an avid plant lover all her life, made a special project of the White Way's plant corner, where the green thumb that brought beauty into her own home was ever in evidence. Thereafter she worked at Manpower, Inc., which at the time was a Radin family business. She volunteered in a number of community organizations, including Hadassah, the Center for Southern Folklore, Baron Hirsch Synagogue and the Margolin Hebrew Academy, and served as a board member at Hadassah and the folklore center. She worked most recently as assistant to the rabbi at Beth Sholom Synagogue. After her children were grown, Mrs. Lubin turned again to her dream of living in Israel, where her daughters both had started families, but she remained in Memphis to care for her stepfather, the late Jay Kochman, and her mother, who passed away last year. In recent months, the dream of making aliyah was once more foremost in her mind.

In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her brothers, Maury Radin of Memphis and Charles Radin of Brookline, Massachusetts, son-in-law, Avi Rosenschein, husband of Yedida Lubin, and their children Tzvi and Adi Rosenschein of Jerusalem, son Chaim and daughter-in-law Tanya Lubin and their children Orli, Noam and Kira Lubin of Skokie, Illinois, and daughter Bracha and her husband Micha Hyman and their children Zahava, Elisheva, Nechemia, Emunah and Hillel Hyman of Nachliel, Israel.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the Sam Abraham Chapel in Baron Hirsch Cemetery. The family requests that donations in Mrs. Lubin's memory be made to organizations that are building and strengthening the Land where she so wanted to live.
