EDNA ACOR Obituary

Edna “Eddi” Virginia Posey Acor, died early Friday, October 26, 2012, at her home in Lakeland, Tennessee after a long battle against cancer. Born in Washington, D.C., July 22, 1944, to William Arthur and Mary Jane Posey, Eddi lived in Shelby County, TN with her husband Jack Acor for most of their marriage of 48 years. Eddi’s strong faith in the Lord Christ Jesus demonstrated by many years of Bible study, church attendance and verbal testimony, was validated by many friends, many of whom expressed their gratitude to her for being an inspiration to them in her battle against cancer. Before her diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer at age 34, Eddi grieved the loss of her mother to cancer at age 50. Diagnosis of ovarian cancer in 2004 began a long and difficult struggle accompanied by much pain from operations, side effects of various chemo treatments, et al. So often, when she was crushed by the weight of the devastation of the disease, she would reach deep down somewhere within her soul, and pull herself back. If heroism is defined by the fight one wages against the enemy, Eddi was a hero! Eddi is survived by her husband Jack Acor, daughters Jacqueline “Jackie” and Lisa, and her son Jonathan “Jon”; Jackie’s husband Curt Swope and their four children, Matthew, Posey, Jonathan and Andrew, Lisa’s husband Greg Goodall and their daughters Gabriela and Priscila, her son Jon’s wife Jamie and their daughter Jillian, and Eddi’s sister Ellen Posey Moore of Alexandria, VA. Much gratitude goes to our children who gave invaluable help during Eddi’s last days in our home, as we grieved together, but also celebrated the life of this beloved wife and mother, this great lady. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Independent Presbyterian Church, 4738 Walnut Grove Rd, Memphis followed by interment in Memorial Park Funeral Home Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis. Memorial Park Funeral Home, "Behind the stone wall", 901-767-8930. Condolences may be offered at www.MemorialParkOnline.com
