JOSEPH EDWARD (ED) WAESCHE, III. - of Melville, New York died Tuesday, May 2, after a short illness. He is survived by his loving wife Kate (Sutliff).
He is also survived by his son J. Edward Weasche IV and wife Nancy who reside in Greenwich with their children J. Edward V, Woodward and William.
Survivors also include his daughter Kate Van Eron and husband Russ of Cedar Grove Long Island and their two children James and Katelyn.
Survivors also include his brother R.H. Woodward of Baltimore, Maryland and sister Tilghman of Ramsey, New Jersey. He is also survived by a nephew and niece Russell and Ann Waesche.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland December 8, 1931, Ed graduated from Princeton University in 1953. He enjoyed an illustrious career with Grumman Aerospace for whom he worked until his retirement in the early 1990's. Though his love of music first surfaced at Princeton as a member of Stan Rubin's Tigertown Five, his real love was barbershop harmony.
He was a chorus member and quartet man, and was well known as an arranger, director and coach. After he resigned as Treasurer then Chairman of SPEBQSA, he was inducted in to the Barbershop Hall of Fame in 2005.
