DR. N.K. "Lucky" LAKSHMANAN, of Memphis, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at his home after an extended illness. Lakshmanan immigrated to the United States from India in 1961. He was a resident of Memphis since 1973. He earned a doctorate in ecology from North Dakota State University in 1971. During his long career, Lakshmanan has been a biology professor, worked for the Environmental Protection Agency, and was an entrepreneur. He was also active in local politics and in the Asian-American community. Lakshmanan had seven brothers and one sister in India. He is survived by his son, Bhoja "Bo" Luxman, also of Memphis. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Lakshmanan's home, 4333 Park Forest, Memphis, TN. Bartlett Funeral Home 901-372-5555
