Antonio Allaire Obituary

COLEBROOK - Antonio "Tony" Allaire. 72, of Colebrook passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the Weeks Hospital in Lancaster, following a lengthy illness.



Born April 29, 1939 in Hudson, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Allaire of Hudson. For the past eight years, tony has lived in the North Country, most recently living at Colby Commons in Colebrook.



He was raised in Nashua and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, after graduating he worked for his father at Allaire & Sons before becoming a certified nursing assistant and working for Green Briar Nursing Home. Over the years, Tony worked as a ground supervisor for Royal Crest Apartments, and then for Staples 25 years, before retiring in May of 2003.



Tony felt that his biggest accomplishment was his dedication to his country having served in the Civil Air Patrol as a volunteer for 50 years, which is where he met his sweetheart, and married Clare Mansfield on August 21, 1965 in Nashua. She too was a CAP volunteer.



Tony was awarded the 50 year service plaque upon his retirement. While in the CAP, he served as an Aerospace Education Officer, a Search and Rescue Team Commander, a Unit Commander, a Director for Encampments, and a Chaplain. At that time Tony was the only Latter Day Saint Chaplain in Northern New Hampshire.



During his lifetime, he and his wife acted as foster parents, caring for brain injured children. He also worked in the New Hampshire court system caring for 53 youths, and served as house parents at a college for boys.



Tony is survived by his wife, two sisters: Rita McAllister of Concord, Lucille Moriarty of Northwood; 32 nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25 at 1 p.m. by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Bridge St, Colebrook.

Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. till 12:30 p.m.
