Calvin Murphy Obituary

HARTLAND, Vt. – Calvin E. Murphy Sr., 75, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, Vt. surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 26, 1939, in Hartland, Vt., where he also attended school, before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Calvin is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy (Johnson) Murphy; daughter, Veronica Turner of Concord; son, Larry Brown of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Bonnie Brown of Canon City, Colo.; son, Calvin Murphy Jr. of Loudon; and son, Oliver Murphy of Hartland, Vt.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and brothers, Weldon and Dean Murphy.

Calvin is predeceased by his parents, Oliver Murphy of Hartland, Vt. and Alice (Shute) Bagley of Penacook; brothers, Mahlon, Carleton Sr. and Rodney and a sister, Phyllis Murphy.

For many years he was employed by Capital Fire Protection in Loudon, later by John L. Carter & Son in Bow.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 12, at 11 a.m. at the Hartland Cemetery.

A gathering will follow the graveside service at the Hartland Recreation Center.
