Carlene Field Obituary

DOVER - Carlene A. Field, 73, passed peacefully, with her family by her side, at Hyder Home Hospice House Sunday, September 30, 2012 after fighting breast cancer.

Carlene was born December 6, 1938 in New Gloucester, Maine, married to David G. Field on March 28, 1957 in Farmington, Maine, graduated High School in Bridgton, Maine, class of 1957, and attended STCC in Springfield, Mass.

She was a 4-H leader while living in Rollingsford. Her love for children was expressed through her gift of teaching, being a special needs and nursery school teacher in Southwick, Mass. She loved to square dance, and enjoyed the movie experience when her team was selected to take part in the square dancing scene of the movie The Reincarnation of Peter Proud. She was an avid quilter; pouring love into the quilts she made for her family, while also spending time as a quilting teacher, teaching others to enjoy this craft. She also enjoyed camping and traveling through all 48 continental US states with her husband and children.

Carlene is survived by her husband David G. Field of 55 years; her half-brother Kent Whitney; a son David P. Field and his wife Laura; a daughter Sheila Zahaykevitz and her husband Sam; and her five grandchildren: Heather (Field) McDonald, Holly Field, Jennifer Field, Samantha Zahaykevitz and S. Zachary Zahaykevitz.

An open house for family and friends will be held to celebrate her life.

If desired, donations can be made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation or to the Hyder Home Hospice in Dover.
