Chris Mathews Obituary
Durham, NH — On November 11th, Veteran's Day, Edward Christian "Chris" Mathews II passed peacefully after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson's Disease. He is survived by his mother Hope, son Chris, daughter in law Jenn, grandson August, daughter Alexis and many extended family and friends.
He can now rest with his beloved wife of 42 years, Judy. He lived an incredibly full life in 76 years.
Born in Providence, RI, he grew up on the Connecticut Shoreline learning to sail at a young age and falling in love with his future wife at 16 years old.
He served dutifully in the Marines before graduating from Transylvania University in Lexington, KY. He remained close to his Pi Kappa Alpha brothers up to his death. At Transy, he became passionate about horse racing and enjoyed the thrill of handicapping his whole life.
After school he began an accomplished career in the direct mail industry that took him around the globe. He retired early and opened Integra Car Wash in Concord, NH.
His greatest pride was his family and his children will never forget rides to little league and soccer games on the back of his Harley. He relished his time as a grandfather.
The family deeply thanks the staff of Compassus Hospice and Brookdale Sprucewood for their care and support.
In lieu of donations, please try to help someone in need as Chris quietly did his whole life. Family and friends will gather in the Spring to safely celebrate a beautiful life. We miss you dearly, Papa Bear.

My sincerest and deepest sympathy and condolences to everyone during this difficult time. I first met him at the car wash and he always talked to me about my car with the shiny rims. He was a kind man and always so helpful. Keep the memories in your heart always and cherish the good times that you had.
