Doris Brown Obituary

Doris A. Brown

Weare, NH - Doris A. Brown, a lifelong flower designer and dedicated gardener, passed away on September 29, 2025.

From Weare, NH, she was the second child of Charles and Barbara Brown. After graduating high school, Doris pursued her passion by attending Floral Design School in Cohasset, MA, where she also began her career. Her professional work took her to Washington, D.C., and Stamford, CT, before she returned to New Hampshire to open her own shop, The Village Greenhouse, in Henniker.

A master of her craft, Doris consistently used her creativity to beautify the communities she was a part of. She meticulously restored her colonial home in Weare before moving to Concord. Even in retirement, she continued this commitment, most notably by designing and maintaining a garden for all residents to enjoy at Horseshoe Pond Place. Her final move was to Hillsboro House nursing home, where she received attentive care until her passing.

Doris is survived by her siblings: Shirley Brown Elliott, Gordon Brown and his wife Paula, Burton Brown, Jane Brown Munro and her husband Bob, and Barbara Brown Farmer and her husband Frank; and her brother-in-law, Bill Miller. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Brown Miller; her brother, Bruce Brown; and her brother, Charles Brown and his wife, Sylvia.

A graveside service will be held on Oct 12th at 1:00pm at Pine Grove Cemetery in Weare, NH.
