Frances Murdoch Obituary

BRADENTON, Fla. – Frances (Frankie) Cecile Murdoch, 69, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at Our Home at Wares Creek with her beloved husband of 45 years by her side.

She was born in Franklin on June 9, 1944, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Larkin) Peterson. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1966 and later received her MBA from Plymouth University. Frankie taught school in New Hampshire at Pembroke Academy, Rundlett Middle School and St. Anselm's College before relocating to Florida. She continued to teach in Manatee County Schools for many years until the ravages of early onset Alzheimer's disease affected her skills, talent and memory.

Frankie had a delightful sense of fun and curiosity endearing her to friends and family. She was an avid reader, talented seamstress and enjoyed art museums, cultural events and traveling. Long walks were a daily routine. While she enjoyed all the places she lived, she remained a New Englander at heart and could never get enough of fall in New Hampshire.

A devoted wife, Frankie was a generous and loving sister, aunt and a thoughtful and loyal friend. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Murdoch of Brandenton, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Robert Leclerc, of Danbury; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ray Moran of Danbury.

She handled her long illness with grace, dignity and without complaint. The Covell Funeral Home of Brandenton, Florida is in charge of arrangements.

At her request, there are no calling hours or services.

A memorial gift can be made in her name to: Alzheimer's Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Dr, PO Box 1950, Clarksburg, MD 20871-1950.

Rick,Terry, and Leah,it is so sad to learn of you loss. My fondest memories of Frankie are when she was my supervising teacher when I did my student teaching at Pembroke Academy. She had an easy laugh and was fun to be around. It was not unusual for her to come to school in the morning with a new outfit she had just "whipped up" the night before...one of her many talents. It bothered her that I was given a final grade of B+ when she had submitted an A for me. Such a kind and gentle soul.

Dear Rick,
Our thoughts are with you. Frankie was highly respected and dearly loved as are you.
