Gerald Lascelle Obituary

MANCHESTER – Gerald E. Lascelle, 95, a resident of Bedford Falls Retirement Home, formerly of Somerville Street, Manchester, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017.

Born in Suncook on June 20, 1921, Mr. Lascelle was the son of Herve and Blanche (Parenteau) Lascelle.

An honorably discharged veteran, Mr. Lascelle proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II, serving from Sept. 16, 1940 to July 10, 1945. Mr. Lascelle served in the East Indies, New Guinea, and Southern Philippines as a member of the Battery A 237th Antiaircraft Artillery Searchlight Battalion. Mr. Lascelle earned the rank of Sergeant at the time of his discharge.

Mr. Lascelle retired from Notre Dame College in the construction and maintenance departments.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Lascelle) Levasseur and husband, Raymond of Manchester; two grandsons, Christopher Bell and Matthew Bell, both of Manchester; four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Ariana, Victoria and Lyra Bell, all of Manchester. Mr. Lascelle also leaves friends and staff at the Bedford Falls facility where he had been living the last four years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lascelle was predeceased by his wife with whom he shared 66 years of marriage, Vivian (Demers) Lascelle, who passed on Sept. 11, 2012.

The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. at the St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. Military Honors to follow the Mass.

Burial will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Assisting the family with arrangements is the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerald's memory to the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 718 Smyth Rd., Manchester, NH 03104.

Gerry was a kind and thoughtful man , who loved his family, they were always very supportive to Gerry and he was deeply grateful. I had the pleasure of knowing Gerry for four years and providing him Dining services each day, he will missed by all. Rest in peace and may you join your loving wife in heaven.
