Heidi (Rogers) LaCroix, a long-time resident of Concord, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at the age of 62, surrounded by the love of her family.

Heidi was born in Attleboro, Mass., on September 8, 1951, to the Reverend Herschel and Helen (Johnson) Rogers. She grew up in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, graduating from Classical High School in Springfield, Mass. Heidi studied at Eastern Baptist College in Pennsylvania and American International College in Springfield. She was an inventory control specialist at Sanel Auto Parts where she worked for 35 years. It was here that she met the love of her life, Joseph LaCroix, and they shared 31 wonderful years of marriage.

Heidi was predeceased by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; and her two sisters, Holly McCain and her husband, Howard, of Cambria, Calif. and Heather Warde and her husband, Dick, of South Portland, Maine. She also leaves two step-daughters, Janice Morin and her husband, Bob, of Bedford and Dawna Kidder of Manchester; as well as three grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew.

Heidi was a kind and loving person, devoted to her husband and family and a blessing to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main St., Concord, followed immediately by internment at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery.

You can see it on her face in all the pictures, and it was even more noticeable in person. Aunt Heidi was joyful. It was a quiet joy, the kind that doesn't need to announce itself, but which is undeniably, unmistakably there, like an aura of warmth. It was the smile on her face when she was around her family – especially Uncle Joe. It was her ability to draw happiness from life's simple pleasures: putting the last piece into a puzzle, the purr of a cat. Aunt Heidi's legacy is a way of life, a reminder that true joy doesn't come from our external circumstances but from our attitude. When I remember her, I will always think about her joy, and I hope I will remember to cultivate it in my own life as well.

Ode to Heidi

In youth, we all played together in what seemed a world so fair,
Fireflies, games, jigsaw puzzles, and brushing your golden hair.

Later, there was swapping clothes and getting you ready for the prom,
And so many other memories I must now rely upon.

I'm glad we had so many moments-- how glad, you'll never know
I will treasure them always in my heart wherever I may go.

We grew up and moved apart, as siblings often do,
Yet there was nothing you wouldn't do for me, and I still loved you through and through.

God blessed you with a loving partner with whom to share life' joys and toils
And furred and feathered family members whom you most certainly spoiled.

Little sister you may have been, but you taught me a thing or two
About how to give and serve and love, and so unselfishly too.

I wish you were still here with us, but God said, “I want Heidi with me.
No more suffering, sickness, tears or pain, just peace is what you'll see.”

In my Father's house are many rooms prepared.*--That promise I believe.
It's such a comfort to know you're waiting there, and no longer do you grieve.

Just know that I love and miss you, and I'll carry you in my heart
Until I can laugh with you again, when we'll never be apart.
