Jeanne Descoteaux Obituary

Jeanne B. Descoteaux

Allenstown, NH — Mrs. Jeanne (Bonenfant) Descoteaux, 90, a longtime Allenstown resident, passed away at the Courville at Manchester on February 18, 2022 after a period of declining health.

Born in Manchester, Jeanne was the daughter of the late Donat and Oneda (Daneault) Bonenfant. She was raised in Allenstown and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. She went on to attend nursing school at Notre Dame Hospital and later earned her degree in Psychology from New England College.

Jeanne began her nursing career at Notre Dame Hospital in Manchester. While raising her children, she began working for the Allenstown Schools, where she would remain as school nurse for over 20 years.

A longtime communicant of St. John the Baptist Parish, Jeanne served as a Eucharistic Minister and made communion visits to the home-bound. She was a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne Sodality as well as the St. Therese Rosebush Society. She volunteered her time as a nurse for the Pine Haven Boys School and for the Community Action Program.

Jeanne shared a strong bond with her sisters and her classmates from nursing school. In addition to volunteering and spending time with friends and family, she found joy throughout her life in knitting, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and taking trips for ice cream. In her retirement, she traveled extensively throughout the world.

She was predeceased by her husband, Romeo G. Descoteaux; brothers, Lucien, Robert, Jean, Richard and Andre Bonenfant; and her sisters, Anita Blais and Cecile Croteau.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Marie Richard and husband Shawn of Henniker, and her son, Denis of Pembroke. She was the loving grandmother to Samuel, Benjamin, Jack and Jillian. She is also survived by her two sisters, Theresa Jacob and husband Raymond of Kansas, and Celine Jacob of Hooksett; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 23rd from 9:30-10:30 A.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main St. in Pembroke followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown at 11 A.M.
