Joseph McGuire Obituary

ALLENSTOWN – Joseph 'Joe" or "JoJo" Aloysious McGuire Jr. left this world knowing he was incredibly loved. On Sunday morning, Feb. 18, 2018, Joe passed away peacefully with his loving wife, caregiver and best friend, Patricia, by his side.

Joe was born in Concord, on Oct. 27, 1933, to Joseph A. McGuire Sr., grandson and son of Irish and German immigrants to New York, and Louise (Trombley) McGuire, daughter of French Canadian immigrants with Native American heritage. Joe was predeceased by his parents, as well as siblings, Eileen (McGuire) Cote and James F. McGuire. He is survived by his brother, John McGuire and his wife, Fern of McComb, Miss. Missing him deeply is his cherished wife of 63 years, Patricia (Muzzey) McGuire of Allenstown; sons, Timothy and his wife, Doreen McGuire of Boscawen and Michael and his wife, Sherry McGuire of Weare; daughters, Marianne and her husband, Charlie Farren of Chelmsford, Mass. and Linda and her husband, Spencer Bennett of Henniker. Joe is also survived by brother-in-laws, Dana Muzzey and his wife, Gretchen and Worthen Muzzey and his wife, Elizabeth; and sister-in-law, Marjorie (Muzzey) and her husband, Don Briand. "Gampy" will be forever in the hearts of his grandchildren, Tabitha, Christopher, Ashley, Ivory, Veronica, Oliver, Lisa and Nathan, as well as his great-grandchildren, Mallery, Kacey, Zinnia, Ace, Mariposa, Noah, Emma, Alex and Elizabeth; his nieces, Kathy, Maureen, Wanda, Wendy, Kim, Dallas, Tammy, Deborah, Elizabeth, Emily and Katherine; his nephews, Brian, Johnny, Shawn, Denny, Zach and Steve; numerous cousins, friends, wonderful neighbors and Joe's faithful furry companion, "Buddy".

Joe grew up in Concord, cavorting in the streets of Fosterville with his friends, playing basketball and baseball at Addison Boys Club and scrambling down the football field as co-captain of the famed Concord High School's varsity "eleven". After graduation, Joe enlisted in the Army, marrying Patricia while on a weekend pass. They later returned to Concord from Ft. Dix, N.J. to raise their family. Joe was employed by the Rumford Press, then retired from the City of Concord to Florida, where the couple enjoyed warmth, sunshine, and a lot of fun for 17 years before returning to Concord in 2012 to be close to family.

Besides his deep love of family, Joe's interests included antique cars, renovating houses, scoping out local flea markets, challenging "fix-it" projects, enjoying anything sweet and the New England Patriots.

Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord. Joe will rest beneath the beautifully embellished granite cross that once adorned the roof of the original St. Peter's Church on Bradley Street in Concord, where, not so long ago, he and his bride Patricia were married.

A special thank you to Hospice, whose staff helped make it possible for Joe to spend his last days at home under the devoted care of his wife.

In lieu of flowers, Joe asks that you simply enjoy each and every moment, appreciate your family and loved ones, laugh, smile, forgive, and have a good time on this all-too-short of a ride called life.

HI EVERYONE. SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. I HAVE A LOT OF GREAT MEMORIES AS A KID LIVING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND HANGING OUT WITH YOUR FAMILY. JOE WAS ALWAYS GREAT TO US BY BRINGING US TO CAMP OR FIXING OUR MINI- BIKES AND RIDES IN THE MODEL A JUST TO MENTION A FEW. ALWAYS THINK OF HIM WHEN I HEAR SOMEONE ELSE SAY "HOW DO?" HE WAS A GREAT GUY. MIKE RUFO, CONCORD,NH.

I have been fortunate to have had such an amazing father. He was always, always looking to help another, giving everything he could. My husband, Spencer, and I would stop by every week to spend an afternoon playing cards with him and my mom, listening to his unbelievably funny stories of the crazy things he did growing up...and later as an adult, too! :) He should have written a book. All my love Dad, always...

I'm very sorry for you Pat. We all looked to Joe when we were in trouble and he was always willing to help use out. Rosalie and I bought our first home from you and joe. It was a grate start in the right direction. I know that the good Lord is happy to have such a good fixer-upper on his side.

You know the TV character "MacGyver"? That was Uncle Joe. I always said he could do anything! He will be missed.
