Joseph Poulin Obituary

Joseph "Gene" Antonio Eugene Poulin

East Andover, NH — Gene Poulin beloved husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in his home on Friday, September 23, 2022.

Gene was born to Antonio and Ida (Dumont) Poulin on October 5, 1936 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He was the seventh of ten children and is predeceased by his parents and three of his siblings: Jennette Lombardo, Irene Beaulieu, and Lee Poulin. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Priscilla Poulin, his son David and wife Debbie, his son Kevin and wife Jennifer, his daughter Michelle and her husband Chris, his daughter Amy and her husband Jason, his daughter Stacie and her husband Jeff. As well as his grandchildren: Joey and wife Sam, Michaela, Maddie, Tiffany and her fiancé Austin, Tristan, and his great grandchildren Colby and girlfriend Mya, Bentley, and Santigie. He also leaves behind his beloved siblings Yvette Herchenroder, Doris Harrison, Kim Poulin, Claire Lavoie, Marcie Martino, and Larry Poulin, as well as countless nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends.

Gene was an incredible father who loved his wife and children so fiercely. He served in the United States Army for 3 years before being medically discharged and made a career out of being a mail carrier before retiring. Retirement meant that he could be a full-time father, which was his favorite career of all. Later on, he became a full-time, Papa, which he also loved. He took photos of everything, which will be cherished forever. You could always find him in his recliner doing a crossword puzzle or reading the paper. He loved helping people. He was known for giving out lifesavers, $20 bills, and beers, particularly Heineken. Fall was his favorite, especially Halloween. He loved growing pumpkins in his famous garden, and giving them out to everyone. Every year he would leave them by the mailboxes of all of his family members. He was an avid golfer, skilled bowler, and a great fisherman. He loved taking his canoe out on Highland Lake. He was excellent at playing cards, which is what he did every Tuesday after going to lunch with his devoted wife and best friends Bill and Loretta Bates. They also enjoyed their annual Poland Springs trip with the Bates for thirty years. He loved the Peanuts, especially snoopy. He napped in all of his snoopy blankets. He took rides around town just to say hello to everyone and go to the dump! You could often find him sitting on his porch waving to everyone who passed by. For many years he was a part of the Andover Rescue Squad. He LOVED the Patriots and the Red Sox and called his sport-loving kids and grandkids anytime they had a great win. You could also find him blasting Sweet Caroline any time of the year. He was so proud that he met Elvis, and was a huge fan. He made the best spaghetti in the world and did the craziest things to make everyone laugh. He was a lover of all animals, and they all loved him right back, and the constant treats he gave them too. He had the same jokes he would tell over and over that could always make you laugh. He was seen at countless sports games and events for his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids over the years. Gene was always kind and generous, and made everyone around him feel loved. The impact Gene made on his family and community was immense, and he will be sorely missed. He was always so proud of his family, as they were of him.

The family will hold a graveside service at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH on September 29, 2022 at 11:30 am. A celebration will follow the services at the residence of Amy and Jason Jenkins.

Larry and family. I’m sorry to hear about Gene. That was quite a shock. He looked the picture of health the last time I saw him. he. Was a great guy. He will be missed for sure. Growing up with the Poulin family particularly with Larry was a great part of my life. Larry, the best man at my wedding. The basketball games and the football games on the street in front of your house. One day, playing baseball, gene hit a line drive ball that hit me in the stomach and knocked the wind out of me. He felt so bad. That was the kind of guy he was. Caring. Anyway, God bless you all and Gene, rest in peace. Love you all.

Gene, you were one of the very best human beings we ever met!
Your life was full of your Christian values, everything a son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather should be!
Rest now, your job is done, but all of us will miss you, so very, very much! God speed, good and
faithful servant!
