Marie Mongan Obituary
She was born in San Diego, CA the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Marie Y. (Bonneau) Flanagan. She was a graduate of Franklin High School and received her Masters Degree from Plymouth State University.
Marie is the founder/creator of HypnoBirthing, the Mongan method. She was the director of the HypnoBirthing Institute. She was the recipient of the 1995 National Guild of Hypnotist President's award and she received the coveted Charles Tibbetts award in 2000 for the recognition she has brought to Hypnotherapy. This award is the highest award ever given to anyone to this day. Marie was the owner/director of The Thomas School, a post-secondary secretarial school, former Dean of Pierce College and was on the Board of Directors at Plymouth State
She was predeceased by her husband Eugene Mongan.
Survived by her children, Wayne Flanagan of Sunapee, Brian Kelly of Chichester, Maura Geddes and her husband Rick of Bow, and Shawn Mongan of Rochester, NY, Stepchildren, Michelle Shoemaker, Steve Mongan and Nancy Kelley; Grandchildren, Meghan and Rachel Flanagan, Patrick Kelly, Tanner Garrison, Garrison Kelly, Kyle, Lily, Bria and Kira Geddes, Morgan Decker, Shane Mongan, Will and Christine Shoemaker, Melissa Mongan, Jennifer Kelley-Leary, Jessie Kelley, and Jamie Kelley; Great Granddaughter, Peyton Kelly and Great Grandson, Aedan Leary.
A Memorial visiting hour will be held Monday June 24th from 11:30am to 12:30 PM at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord
A Memorial Service will follow at 12:30 PM in the Chapel of the Waters Funeral Home. The Rev. Terry Odell will officiate.
Burial will follow in the NH Veteran's Cemetery, Boscawen at 2 PM.

Mickey, I will never forget our first phone call and being so surprised at our similaritiesfrom growing up in NH and graduating Plymouth State University, we seemed destined to work together. My best memories were when we would share life experiences. You provided me with so much wisdom. I became an advocate for HypnoBirthing early on and will one day go through the program with my daughter. I cared for you immensely and always tried to make sure your best interests came before any decisions. I hope someday you will come to me through our mutual friend. This woman touch my life & the life of my family in so many ways over so many years. The things she taught me are beyond measure & they not just about birthing but about how to run a business, how important family is, loving others, how to strengthen relationships with my children & my spouse, & how to be a hard worker. I will never forget the time spent with her, working side by side in the office discussing birthing stories & writing & proofing the 4th Edition of the HypnoBirthing Book. I will never forget the many lunch dates, going for pedicures before heading to the Conclave in VA, & working in her yard & planting flowers. Marie started me on my HypnoBirthing journey 8 years ago when I was preparing for the birth of my eldest son, and a friend loaned me her book. After such an amazing birth with him, I went on to train to teach with The HypnoBirthing Institute shortly afterwards and have helped many couples have positive calm birth experiences since. I am saddened to hear of Mickey's passing. Because of her work I birthed two sons peacefully. My husband uttered that I was his hero both times. Because of her, I found a strength and power inside of myself that I didn't know I had. Because of her I became a Certified Hypnotherapist and have been able to help others.
