Mary Hazen Obituary

FRANKLIN – Mary Evelyn Hazen, 63, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at Concord Hospital, due to complications from a sudden illness.

Born on Oct. 29, 1952, in Gloucester, Mass. she was the youngest daughter of Gardner Richard Tarvis and Charlotte Louise Thaxter. Siblings Bob Tarvis, Massachusetts (deceased), Nancy Tarvis, Maine, Carol Tarvis, Texas and Charlie Tarvis, Maine. Mary grew up in Rockport and graduated from Rockport High School in the class of 1970. Over the past 18 months she resided at Merrick County Nursing Home while battling Alzimiemer's where she was well cared for and made many new friends.

She is survived by her son, LeBaron Lowell Hazen III and his wife, Andrea Hazen and their four children, Brenna,13, Charlotte, 11, Molly, 9 and Declan, 7 and her daughter, Nicole "Co-co" Marchant and her husband, Gregory Marchant and their two daughters, Vivian, 12 and Violet, 10.

Mary moved to New Hampshire in 1990 to live in the countryside for an "easier way of life" and pursue her passion of gardening. She loved to cook, bake, make canned good all from scratch from the freshest ingredients of any given season. In 1994 she began entering her culinary creations into the local and county fairs and competitions in New Hampshire winning numerous awards, prizes and accolades for her various entries. Her "secret" recipes for her award winning fudge, spiced grapes and so many others will keep her memory alive and in the hearts of many for generations to come. She also made unique, one of a kind jewelry and specialty pieces that again, like her cooking reflected her love for nature and animals. Mary was a proud, loving mother, grandmother and she will be remembered by many throughout the New England area.

Mary requested a private service for her immediate family.
