Nancy Normand Obituary

Nancy Normand

Concord, NH — Nancy Normand, age 69 formerly of Manchester, NH, passed away in the evening of January 13th, 2022.

Four years ago, Nancy was diagnosed with a brain tumor, had surgery and had been actively living with the condition until her recent passing.

Nancy was born on February 17, 1952 as a baby boomer to Lucille and Lucien Normand, an Air Force couple from Manchester, NH living in Colorado Springs. She attended Immaculata High School and NHTI later in life.

Nancy worked in the NH Secretary of State Corporate Division for many years and as a law firm paralegal.

She enjoyed socializing, playing, and listening to music, participating, and volunteering for her community and was an activist for women's rights and various other social justice causes.

Nancy was also a proud member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Concord, NH. Nancy and her former husband, John Thompson, purchased a home at the end of a dirt road in Gilmanton Iron Works, where they enjoyed the rustic surroundings, their pets, chickens, garden and young child, Eleanor.

Later in life she lived in Concord, where she had many friends and acquaintances. She enjoyed joining other musicians to present music to others wherever they were.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Thompson, her siblings and in laws: James and Lynn Normand, of Manchester, NH, Susan (Normand) Cole and Tim Hassett, of Yarmouth ME, Thomas and Denise Normand, of Orlando FL, Charles and Lynn M. Normand or Jamestown RI as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by mother, Lucille Normand and father Lucien Normand.

Memorial services and celebration of Nancy's active life will be announced at a later date in the Spring.

I ran across Nancy´s obituary and it saddened me. I worked with Nancy at a law firm on Middle Street in Manchester in the 90s and she was always a delight, so friendly and spirited. I left NH many many years ago, and sadly lost track of Nancy. May she rest in peace, I certainly have fond memories of her.

Awwwwwwe... Just a good solid, caring, easy laugh, authentic chats... And loved Ellie deeply, as I knew them in Gilmanton. Always so impressed how she a John carried on, as a departed couple. Both at Ellie's sports n Scholl events. Truly a dear lady and family! A bright light will enter Heaven and fond memories with each exchange with Nancy.

I was so sorry to hear about Nancy's passing. We originally met 25+ years ago when we worked for two different law firms. I had to call her about something and left a message saying I would be out the following day (2/17), etc. When she returned my call she said she was also out of 2/17 because it was her birthday. Well, it was my birthday too! We struck up a friendship based on our mutual birthday. She was a lovely person. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

I loved Nancy dearly and so cherished our "reunion" gatherings over the years with other YWCA volunteers. May her spirit be blessed. I'll hold her close in my heart.
