Norma Perkins

1921 - 2014

NOTTINGHAM – Norma Clark Perkins, daughter of the late Erving L. and Bernice (Drake) Clark, died peacefully after a short illness on Wednesday, August 27, 2014.

She was born May 4, 1921 in Strafford, NH, and spent most of her early years in Northwood, NH graduating from Coe Brown Academy, Class of 1939. Norma married John Albert Perkins in 1941 and brought up their family at Terraperk Farm in Nottingham, NH. She was active in the PTA, 4-H, Young Farmers Association, Nottingham Community Church, Home Extension, Nottingham Women's Club, Patuccoway Grange in Nottingham, and Jeremiah Smith Grange in Lee. She was a 70 year member of the Elsie Cilley Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, serving at the local and state levels.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Albert Perkins, in October 1982; three brothers, Eldon, Earle and Elliott Clark, and a special cousin, Patricia Drake Sanford.

Family members include daughters, Deanna Perkins Rush and her husband, Ronald, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; Lynne Perkins Sweet and her husband, David, of Newfields, N.H., and son John Erving Perkins and his wife, Gail, of Nottingham, NH; grandchildren, Douglas and Daniel Sweet, Gregory and Rebecca Rush, and John S. Perkins; six great grandchildren; cousins Frederick P. York and his wife, T. Ann, and Jean York Clark, nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbors. Norma will be remembered for her bountiful Sunday family dinners, her homemade chocolates, and especially for her strong values of family and community.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 31st from 5 to7 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Street, Newmarket.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 2nd at 11 a.m. at South Side Cemetery, Nottingham.
