Normand Hamel Obituary
Allenstown, NH — Normand E. Hamel, 89, of Allenstown, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Presidential Oaks while surrounded by his family.
Born on April 3, 1932 in Concord he was the son of the late Henry W. and Ida M. (Auger) Hamel.
Normand was a lifelong resident of Suncook moving from Pembroke to Allenstown in 1970. He worked for many years as a forklift operator at Duracrete before becoming a driver for the Highway Department in Allenstown until his retirement. Norman loved sports, baseball, basketball and hockey, He enjoyed playing them in his younger years and watching them as he got older. He loved swimming, hunting, and being a part of the Suncook Bowling League as well as the Plasawa Country Club Cribbage League. He cherished his time with his children, grandchildren
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Lucille (Neveu) Hamel in 2013 and siblings, Albert Hamel, Claire Bisson, Henry Hamel, Jr. and Margaret Grimard.
He is survived by his children, Pauline Sargent of Franklin, Robert Hamel and his wife Tina of Allenstown, Donna Powers and her husband James of Allenstown, sister, Jeannette Brasley of Pembroke, six grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren with another on the way as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 10am in St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown. Burial will be held in the spring at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Allenstown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Granite VNA Hospice, 2 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301. The Petit-Roan Funeral Home in Pembroke is assisting the family with arrangements. To share a memory or offer a condolence please visit www.petitroan.com.
