Paul DeAngelis Obituary

Paul E. DeAngelis passed away comfortably, peacefully, Friday, April 1, 2016, at home with family by his side after a lengthy illness. He was born in Concord to Frederick and Veronica (Dion) DeAngelis on Jan. 9, 1936. Always proud to be a "White Parker," Paul was an exceptional ice skater and avid hockey player.

He graduated from Concord High School in 1954 and joined the Air Force where he served in the Military Police for four years during the Korean War. Paul worked at the Merrimack Electrotype and then at the Concord Litho as a top pressman and later as a Tower Guard at the State Prison.

Paul was one of the first members of the Concord Boys and Girls Club and later a founding member and first president of the Alumni Association. For 10 years he hosted successful fundraising dinners with the help and support of several local community members and merchants.

He spent many years hunting, fishing, gardening, cheering on his Patriots, and watching History and Wildlife television programs as well as a good Western.

Paul leaves the love of his lifetime and wife of 56 years, Mary.  He also leaves his four children, son, John and his wife, Mary, daughter, Jane and her husband, Eric, daughter, Michele, and son, Chris.  In addition, he leaves nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.   Paul took great pleasure in being a father, grandfather and great- grandfather.

Paul also leaves his older brother, Bob and his wife, Barbara with whom he enjoyed many adventurous road trips to Florida and out west. He leaves his sister, Judie who lives in Florida and whose visits have always been a bright spot. He leaves several dear cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished friends. Paul is predeceased by his brother, Dave who guided and protected him as a young boy.

We'll miss his love for and strong loyalty to family and friends, his courage and confidence, his quick sense of humor and his mischievous antics.

At Paul's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Instead, he would encourage you to toast your own family and friends and to enjoy your time with them.

Paul's family will forever value and appreciate every member of his attentive and comforting hospice team as well as the wonderful staff at the Hospice House for their unwavering support, kindness and reassurance.

For those wishing to make a donation in his name, please consider making a contribution in some way to the Concord Boys and Girls Club or to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association.

Dear Jane,
I am so sorry for your loss. I was thinking about your Dad today as I have been for quite some time and decided to look him up on the Internet to see if your parents still live in Concord and then, I found this. I am deeply saddened, made even deeper for not keeping in contact. I do know that life is eternal and know that your father's spirit is still with you. Please give my condolences to your Mom. I hope you are both well. I will always have the fondest of memories of Mr. D. Warmest regards, Denise (Dias) Callahan

I was so saddened to see this. During my time as an employee at the Club, Paul was a frequent visitor, sometimes for business like planning the Alumni dinner, other times just to drop by and say hi. We all loved and welcomed his presence, as he always brought a smile to our faces. My thoughts are with his family.

I will miss you dad...New Hampshire has lost a legend...I don't believe there will ever be a replacement for Him...A man who perfected the graceful art of giving and constant generosity to as many people as he could, even when it hurt...Always concerned for his fellow man, always looking out for people...Particularly Me... Arguably one of the east coast's consummate White tail Deer hunters of his time... An exceptional and gifted athlete... A brutally Loyal Father to his family, even for a man who lost his Father at age 7...I have had the privilege of witnessing my dad's acts of character and honor, when no one else was looking, or cared...Too many stories to share... Character is forged in the dark places, and unparalleled courage and bravery are demonstrated by men like my dad...And I have found NO substitute for it...My dad walked the walk, and talked the talk...Simple as that...I am proud of my dad...And most importantly, I know the story of this great man is not over yet, and I will see my dad once again in heaven, and I will once again sit still, and lend an ear, while he shares his stories all over again..I am thankful for this important truth...I am thankful for having a dad like mine...Rest now my dear dad, and remember me as you walk with your Saviour, Jesus. Love you Dad, Johnny
