Priscilla Hannah Clark
Exeter, NH - Priscilla Hannah Clark, beloved wife of the Reverend Charles (Kelly) Clark and mother of five children, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024, in Exeter, NH, at the age of 99.
Born on November 23, 1924, in Pasadena, CA, to Gwendolyn and Robert Hannah, Priscilla grew up in a musical family and developed a passion for music and theater from an early age. She pursued her studies in philosophy at Occidental College, where she sang with the Glee Club and performed in various theatrical productions.
Priscilla's life was marked by her deep commitment to the Episcopal Church, social justice, and racial reconciliation. She worked with the Church for the Fellowship of All Peoples, the nation's first interracial church. After the tragic loss of her first husband, Edwin 'Ned' Potter, in 1950, Priscilla completed theological studies at Yale Divinity School, becoming one of the first women admitted there. She married Charles Clark in 1953, and together, they served as directors at Yale's International Student Center.
In 1957, Priscilla and Kelly embarked on missionary work in Southeast Asia, where she engaged in community-building through music and theater. Later, in the Philippines, she continued her musical pursuits, including directing operatic and theatrical productions.
Priscilla and her family moved to New Hampshire in 1992, where they lived at St. Paul's School in Concord. There, she contributed to the school's vibrant community life and was actively involved with St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Dunbarton. She also participated in local organizations like the Concord Audubon Society and Concord Flower Mission.
In her later years, Priscilla discovered a love for watercolor painting, exhibiting her work at various venues. She found joy in spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Priscilla is survived by her children, Martha, Nathaniel, Mary, and Anne, their families, and her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Kelly and her daughter Pamela.
A Requiem Eucharist will be held on Saturday, November 16, at 11 AM at the Chapel of St. Peter and St. Paul at St. Paul's School, Concord, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory Programs or Little Sisters Fund. For more information or to view the full obituary, please visit
