I was just thinking about Dr. Smith as I am struggling with stomach issues, so googled him and found that he passed. He was my mom´s doc and when she died he wrote me the most beautiful letter telling me how lucky I was to have her in my life. He took care of me later with diverticulitis. He was the dearest man, very caring, compassionate doctor. His family is so very blessed to have had him as a husband, dad, grandad and great granddad. May you rest in peace dear man

Very upset to hear Bob died. Knew he was in renal failure and called several times in past month to arrange a visit. So sorry to miss my chance for one last funny story and a good laugh. I spent the summer in Yugoslavia with him while in medical school. It was unforgettable with him. He taught me how to laugh and eat fish. Will miss his annual Christmas card and his humor

I can say it now... after being his patient in Manchester from the beginning to his original retirement....I believe I pleaded to be allowed to follow him to Concord...not sure how many others 'followed' him but I count myself as a very lucky person for the privilege of the extra years. Thank you again for being there. The last few years of being facebook friends and reading his limericks and political views have given so much enjoyment to so many. I felt fortunate to spend a few minutes with him in January. Hope you are traveling aboard one of the many wonderful trains, enjoying time with the family that went before you, writing more poems, mastering the piano, and telling jokes. You will be missed by so many. Our sympathies to his family; he talked of you with such love, a precious gift.

Oh Bob, you will be missed by so many of us not only for your quick wit and wonderful stories (not sure all were true) but for the support and compassion you extended to many of us during our difficult times. I hope you meet up with your many friends who have traveled this path before you and you throughly enjoy the afterlife.
Norn, this is a tough one. It takes time. Know you are surrounded by people who love and support you. My sincere sympathy to you and your entire blended family.

Condolences to the family from your friends at the Bedford Ambulatory Surgical Center. Dr. Smith was loved by everyone at the BASC and we so enjoyed his sense of humor and songwriting skills. He will be missed by all.

Dr Smith was my Gastroenterologist for many years before his retirement. He is the best Doctor I have ever had and I'll never find another one like him. Doctor, you will be missed. My sincere condolences to your family.

I express my sincere condolences to Bob's family. When I first came to town in 1986 Bob befriended me and introduced me to the NH Symphony, hosting parties where I also met James Bolle (who ironically also just passed) and others in the cultural community. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was kind to everyone that he met. I recall on many Christmas Eves when he and "Dr. Joe" (Kuderewicz) passed out kielbasas to all of the nursing stations at Elliot Hospital. I missed him when he moved up North, but kept up with him through his nose, Louise, who worked in my office after Bob moved away. He was surely an extraordinary Renaissance man if there was ever one. Rest in Peace, Bob, and keep telling those jokes up in Heaven.

To all of Bob's family Pam and l send our condolences. He has enriched all of our lives . He was a man of many talents but one of the most important one was he did everything with love from the heart. This is not an ordinary loss as he was not an ordinary man. We can only hope that the family can heal with all the wonderful memories he has left with them
