Dear Pauline,

I was deeply saddened to read of Roland's passing. I know the tremendous sense of loss that you, and Ken, and Wayne are feeling.

I have treasured memories of you as my cub scout den mother long ago. You were always so kind to me. Your kindness continued when my mother Lorraine died in 1999. You were working at the Telegram, and you mailed additional copies of her obituary to me in California. It was a very difficult time for me, and you really touched my heart.

You were so blessed to find a soulmate to spend your life with, a wonderful man like Roland. Once your grief has lessened, you will see so many subtle signs that he never left your side, that he is still with you, and with your sons, and with your grandchildren, closer than ever before, watching over you with so much love.

My deepest sympathy, and my prayers are with you, and with all of your family at this very sad time.
