Ronald Maxfield Obituary

Ronald Eugene Maxfield, Sr

Aledo, TX - Ronald Eugene Maxfield, Sr. formerly of Loudon, NH passed away peacefully at his home in Aledo, TX on October 18, 2025 surrounded by loving family.

Ron was born July 19, 1944 in North Waterboro, ME the son of Ralph Halstead Maxfield and Amy May (Storrs) Maxfield.

Ron joined the Air Force in 1962, and served until honorably discharged in 1968. In the Air Force he worked as an airplane mechanic and achieved the rank of Airman. In 1972 Ron joined the Army National Guard and served until his retirement in 2003 at the rank of Master Sergeant.

Ron married Carol Ann (Bigwood) Maxfield on July 19, 1965 at Weirs Beach in Laconia, NH. They enjoyed sixty years of marriage, had three children, adopted six more and fostered too many to count. They enjoyed the shared task of caring for these children and, perhaps more, playfully picking on each other.

Ron spent the majority of his career working in the Data Center of the Army National Guard in Concord, NH. For a fair portion of that time he worked the night shift which freed his days for his true passion: farming the small property in Loudon. Ron loved to cook for a crowd. He volunteered his time to run the annual pancake breakfast at the Congregational Church for Loudon's Motorcycle Weekend and was passionate about his role as Concessions Manager at the Hopkinton State Fair where he put together thousands of roast chicken legs for the 4-H chicken dinner. In 2003 an accident on the farm forced him to retire.

Ron enjoyed working on his property growing vegetables and raising animals. When it snowed he would climb into his plow truck, clear his driveway and then head to clear the drive at the orchard where he could always count on a hot cup of coffee and a slice of pie. For years he kept a plastic tiger in his shirt pocket so he could delight in proving a child wrong when they insisted he could not possibly have a tiger there. Last he enjoyed being able to put up a new building when he ran out of space for his stuff.

A Celebration of Life will be held November 25, 2025 at 1 PM for details please email [email protected]. Graveside services will be held at New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery, Boscawen, NH on a date to be determined and announced later.
