RUBY CRAWFORD Obituary

Ruby Anna Crawford Ruby was born in Warren, Minnesota on November 27, 1927 to Frank J. and Johanna M. Stuemke. She was the 6th of 8 children. Ruby passed away on November 16, 2014, just short of her 87th birthday. After graduating from high school, she was headed to California, via a stop first in Tacoma, Washington to visit sister Ruth Once here, Ruby never left! She met Maurice "Bud" Crawford, whom she married June 28, 1947. Together, they raised two boys, John and Dan. Back home, Ruby worked at the family flower shop and farm. While raising her boys she did housekeeping, then, later in life, she worked at McCabe's Grocery in downtown Tacoma. She enjoyed reading, camping, boating, fishing, clamming, and gardening. She canned, collected elfs, knitted, sewed, and according to the grandchildren was a "fabulous" baker! Her specialty was fudge, spritz cookies, and apple pie! She enjoyed playing cards and cribbage too, but mostly she just loved being around people, and being "Grandma Ruby." She had a gift of gab, and could talk to anyone about anything! She lived a simple life, had very few wants or complaints, and possessed a heart of gold. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, "Bud," plus many friends and relatives. Survivors include sons John (Karen ) of Belfair and Dan of Grayland, grandchildren Crystal, Stacee, Danelle, Devin, Jeremy, Wendy, and Amanda, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, plus special "daughter" Marlene Walrath and familiy. A heartfelt "Thank you" to Family First for the loving care Ruby received during her 3+ year stay. A private burial at Fir Lane Memorial Park took place on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. A gathering for family and friends will be held some time next spring.
