Concord, NH — Vesta Blanchard, 88, of Concord, NH went home to her Lord and Savior on February 23, 2022 at Concord Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Vesta was born January 20, 1934 in Portsmouth, NH to Ernest and Florence (Wheeler) Spinney.

Vesta grew up in Eliot, Maine, graduating from Eliot High School in 1951. While attending the University of New Hampshire, she met Jim, and, upon their marriage in 1954, would come to settle in the Concord area.

Although not known for her culinary skills, Vesta mixed the ingredients of compassion, kindness, humor and laughter to create a beautiful life, garnished with the sweetness only a grandmother can possess. In getting to know Vesta, one would soon realize that the tender and delicate exterior was somewhat deceiving and that underneath was the rugged spirit of a giant slayer. With the Lord on her side, Vesta was victorious on the battlefield of life, armed with prayer and a faith that would cripple the harshest of diseases, sustain a dying infant son and triumphantly conquer her husband's life threatening illness. As we remember Vesta during this time, may her example remind us of how we too should live - consider the poor, have compassion on all God's creatures, and pray like our lives depended on it. Vesta also knew the secret on how to change the world and that the greatest of challenges had the simplest of solutions - Love your neighbor. May we all yearn, as Vesta did, to hear those beautiful words from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, "Well done, good and faithful servant." We love you Ma.

Vesta was predeceased by her parents, her brother Harlow, her beloved granddaughter, Brooke and Jim, her husband of 65 years.

Members of her family include her son Steven Blanchard and wife, Sally of Concord; daughter Jodi Acheson and husband, Kevin of Sanbornton; her grandchildren, whom she adored, John Blanchard and his wife, Cindy; Andrew Blanchard and his wife, Vanessa; Crystal Lemay and her husband, Jacob; Daniel Acheson and his wife, Karli; and Lauren Lossani; her great-grandchildren Ethan, Emersyn, Ainsley, Alec and Bode, who brought her great joy; and many dear nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will take place at Concord Bible Fellowship, 25 Rockingham St. Concord, NH on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a light lunch reception and time of fellowship. A brief burial service will be held in the Chapel at the NH Veterans' Cemetery in Boscawen at 2:00 p.m.

Vesta's family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the entire 2nd Floor staff at Presidential Oaks who cared for her these past few years, with many becoming dear friends in the process.
