Edna Johnson Obituary
Edna Patricia "Patty" Johnson, age 92, of Bloomingdale, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on October 3, 2025 under the care of Hospice Savannah. Born on July 11, 1933, in Charleston, South Carolina, Patty made Bloomingdale her home for much of her life, where she touched countless lives through her warmth, service, and community spirit.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Patty retired from the Effingham County Board of Education after many years as a school bus driver. Known affectionately by generations of students, she proudly drove not only daily school routes but also transported the band and football players to games. She was also a proud member of the Bus Drivers Association.
Patty was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale for 66 years, where she served as a dedicated volunteer in the church nursery for more than five decades. Her gentle heart and steady presence left a lasting impression on the children and families she cared for over the years.
In her free time, Patty loved traveling, camping, and gardening in her yard. She had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life and especially enjoyed cooking. Her famous macaroni and cheese was a favorite at every gathering. In earlier years, she and her beloved husband spent many weekends exploring yard sales, auctions, and flea markets, always on the lookout for hidden treasures.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Johnson; her father, Earl Sineath; her mother, Edna Sineath; her stepmother, Glynn Sineath; her grandchild, Tonya Boyles; her brothers, Willard Sineath and Stanley Sineath; and her sister, Florrie Johnson.
She is survived by her loving children, Terrance "Terry" Johnson (Marcia), Cheryl Girvin, Bryan Johnson (Wilma), and Barry Johnson; and sister, Lynda Sineath Peavy. Patty was a proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
