Mary Adams Obituary
Mary was born on September 4, 1935, in Savannah, GA. She graduated from Savannah High School and attended Draughon's Business School and Armstrong College.
She was married to James O. Adams. His military career took them to Germany and several bases in the United States. After his retirement, they settled in Atlanta where Mary worked as office manager for a medical practice. When her husband passed away in 1990, she returned to Savannah and devoted her time to serve The USO. In 2008 Mary was honored to be named "Worldwide USO Volunteer of the Year" in Washington DC.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Gordon W. Nelson Jr.
Survivors include her brother Joseph A (Pat) Nelson and nephew Patrick M. Nelson.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Buckingham South and Hospice Savannah for their dedicated care of Mary.
A private burial will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery at a later date.

Earlier today
I had the honor and privilege to serve Mrs. Adams when she would come to the Piggly Wiggly and also at the Kroger.
I remember when she was honored as Volunteer of the year. She was quite a wonderful person. She was modest about that award. Being there for the Troops was her passion and she took such pleasure in that.
She always was so kind and I am saddened by the loss of her.
God bless her family and all of the troops she served.
