Wayne Parish Obituary

Mr. Wayne G. Parish, age 93, of Savannah died on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

Mr. Parish was born on April 15, 1932, in Fulton, New York to the late George Dudley Parish and the late Gladys Sandel Parish. After high school he began his college education but left after 2 years to join the Air Force and serve in the Korean War. While stationed in Savannah at Hunter Army-Air Force Base, he met his wife, Mavis Prevatt. Upon completion of his service, they returned to New York where he completed his bachelor's degree in economics at Colgate University. While in New York he worked as a sales manager for Exxon Corporation. Their three children were all born in New York, but in 1964 they moved back to Savannah where Wayne opened his accounting firm, Parish Management Company. He worked until he retired in 2020. Wayne loved time spent with his family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their sporting endeavors. He loved all things baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox. He was also an avid football fan and enjoyed watching the Georgia bulldogs and Las Vegas Raiders.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis Prevatt Parish. Surviving members of his family include his children, Stephanie Parish McGowan, Steven George Parish (Lisa), and Sheila Parish Jenkins (Charles); grandchildren, Chris McGowan, Matt McGowan, Chase Jenkins (Tyler), Parker Jenkins (Megan), and Samatha Cologne (Griffin); and great grandchildren, Audren McGowan, Holden McGowan, Brooks Jenkins, and Maren Jenkins.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406).

Yesterday

I am so sorry to learn of Uncle Wayne´s passing. My memories of him growing up are playing ball in Grandma Corene´s yard, trips for ice cream and many pool parties. We always had lots of laughter surrounding our many adventures. He will be greatly missed by all the family. May God bless all the family and hold you close as you say goodbye to your father. A man who had loved his family and who never met a stranger. Love you all so much . Joan
