Charles Strong Obituary

Charles Strong, of Redding, California, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 20, 2025.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; his daughter, Megan Sloan (Darrin); his cherished grandson, Aidan; and his sisters, Ann Babb and Sharon Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Tyler and Jimmie Dee Strong, and his brother, William "Billy" Strong.

A proud graduate of Corning High School, Class of 1967, Charles went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy for 23 years. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his public service career with the U.S. Forest Service. He was also an active and proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in both Redding and Corning, keeping in touch with his fellow service members through email and newsletters, often beginning with his signature greeting, "Hidee ho, shipmates!"

Charles had a deep passion for the outdoors, he was an avid biker, Shasta boater, and fisherman. He passed on his love of nature and his strong values to his family, teaching them the importance of kindness, character, and living life with purpose.

He leaves behind a family who adored him and will carry his lessons in their hearts forever. First mate Aidan misses his papa.
