Elizabeth Miller Obituary

Elizabeth Bertha Miller

Coshocton - Elizabeth Bertha Miller, age 96, passed away Wednesday February 14, 2018. Libbie was born November 19, 1921 in Oakdale, PA to Ignatz and Bertha Tarap. One of eleven children, she was blessed with a rich childhood and was always proud to celebrate her Hungarian heritage. Along with her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn D. Miller. She was retired from the Coshocton City Schools where she was a cashier and cook for 21 years. She also worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Pittsburgh, PA during the WW II to help fill vacancies left by the many young men who were called to war. She often recalled one of the greatest thrills of her life when, while at work, she had the honor of meeting Eleanor Roosevelt. Libbie was a member of the Presbyterian Church since 1958 and enjoyed many years of friendship, fellowship and service to the church. She was also a longtime member of the Canal Quilters and a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Bill) Honabarger of Lancaster, OH; grandchildren, John of Columbus, OH and Darcie (Jon) Oemcke of Birmingham, MI; great-grandchildren, Bella, Ellie, Dawson, Sophie and Virginia and great-great-granddaughter, Elena. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Her family was the greatest joy of her life.

Friends may call at the Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1-3pm. A memorial Service will follow at 3pm with Rev. Jonathan Carlisle officiating. So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. It was always nice to talk with her at Edyie's and hear of her days in Oakdale . She went to school with my mother and always spoke of her. As hard as it may be at this time for you, know that she is now content and without any discomfort. She will always be in your heart and the happy memories will live forever. God Bless her .

My sympathy to Libby's family. She was a very special lady. Her husband was my supervisor at Cyclops Steel for many years. She had many friends at her quilt club.
