James Brosius Obituary

James R. Brosius, Sr.

SHERRODSVILLE: James Robert "Jim" Brosius, Sr., 72, of Sherrodsville, OH passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at his Arcadia, Florida home following a long battle with cancer.

Born January 29, 1941 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of the late Christopher and Martha (Conway) Brosius. He attended Summerville and Brookville, PA schools followed by service in the Army Reserves. Memberships included the Masonic Lodge F&AM in Coshocton, OH and the Knights Templar; the Methodist Church in Ohl, PA; and boilermakers union. He had been the owner and operator of a trucking business and an excavation business.

Jim always put his family first and was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. For the last 10 years he and his wife have been snow birds in Arcadia, Florida. He also enjoyed flying in his earlier years and was a licensed pilot.

Jim is survived by his wife of 32 years Jean Carol (Carnett) Brosius; children James R. (Denise) Brosius, Jr., Rachelle Brosius, Richard Brosius, Rana (Jim) Carpenter, Cleta Dudley, Travis Faulkner; grandchildren Brandon Baumgardner, Blake Varian, L.Courtney (Andrew) Mills, Logan Brosius, J. Tyler Carpenter, Kilee Carpenter, Dillon Brosius, Natalie (Andrew) Hoover, Madison Page; great-grandchildren Hunter and Aiden Hoover; siblings Perry (Karen) Brosius, Helen Gavagin, Ronald (April) Brosius, Tim Brosius, Lawrentz (Diane) Brosius; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by one son, one grandson, two sisters, one brother and a mother-in-law.

To honor Jim's request there are no calling hours or services. Cremation has taken place and the cremains will be entombed in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

I worked with Jim for many years and traveled to different jobs with him . We became good friends Even in retirement Jim would always visit when he was in the area He really was good person and loved to visit and talk . One of the many things I will always remember was how he could drink HOT coffee R.I.P. my friend My most sincere condolences to his family and may the holiday season help to ease some of the stress
