Betty Foster Obituary

Betty Jane Foster, 91, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, surrounded by her family. Miss Betty was born in Hockley, Texas, on May 1, 1934, to Sarah Mae and Uell Sanford Sr. She married Virgil Foster on October 14, 1949. She was a member of Mims Baptist Church.

Betty, lovingly known to many as Miss Betty or Granny, drove a school bus for Conroe ISD for 25 years before retiring in 1995. She will be remembered as a woman of strong Christian faith, known for her strength, patience, and devotion to her family and friends.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Miss Betty touched the lives of many with her kindness and warmth. One of her greatest joys was preparing holiday meals for her family, a tradition that brought everyone together and created lasting memories. She was especially known for her homemade divinity and fruit cake cookies, which she lovingly prepared and shared with family and friends each holiday season.

Miss Betty's love extended beyond people to animals as well. She was known to carry dog and cat food on her school bus, always ready to feed any stray she encountered on her route. It was a small act that spoke volumes about the size of her heart.

Miss Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years Virgil; grandson Elton Hurry; her parents; five sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her daughters Linda Foster and partner Carolyn Martin, Diana Thompson and husband Darrell, Julie Foster and partner Brad Young and Lisa "Munch" Foster and husband Carl Willhoite; grandchildren Jeremy Hurry and wife Amy, Joshua Powers and wife Shallon, Adrienne Foster, Nicholas Suhara and wife Danni and Nathan Suhara; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren Jeremy Hurry, Josh Powers, Adrienne Foster, Nathan Suhara and nephews Vernon Sanford Jr. and Jason Sells. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Rd. Conroe, TX, 77303. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Cashner Colonial Chapel with her nephew Pastor Norval Sells officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm at Waller Cemetery in Waller, Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to your local animal shelter in Betty's memory. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Amen Hospice and Montebello Home Care.
