Charlene 'Shirley' Elizabeth Carr Middleton, 84, went to be with the Lord September 30, 2021 in La Porte, Texas. Shirley was born July 24, 1937 in Cleveland, Texas to the late Dewey Richard Carr and Allie Mae Whitmire Carr. Shirley is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, John Middleton. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Stephanie Middleton Kichline- Christensen and husband Mark; son, Doug Middleton and wife Cheryl: brother, Donald Carr: sister-in-law Mary Ann Hurley; grandchildren, Andrea Kichline, Justin Kichline and fiance' Sarah Dinger, Kevin Kichline and wife, Monica, Lauren Middleton and fiance' Tyler Lewis, Ryan Middleton: great-grandson, Cameron Kichline and many loving family members and friends.
Shirley's family grew up in the Cleveland area and later settled in Galena Park. She graduated from Galena Park High School in 1955. Shirley married the Love of her Life, John Middleton in 1958 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Pasadena. Shirley worked at Sam Rayburn High School for many years before owning and operating Bride-to-Be in Pasadena for over 20 years. She loved making her brides and customers feel special. After retirement, Shirley and John enjoyed traveling with close friends and the San Jac Wheelers. Shirley was a member of South Main Baptist Church, where she enjoyed her Sunday School class and Joy Club. Shirley also enjoyed having fun rolling dice with her Bunco group and playing ponytail with her dear friends. What Shirley loved more than anything was spending time with her family. For many years, Shirley served on the board of The Rose as she was passionate about their mission to help prevent breast cancer.
