Lucie LaFleur Obituary

Born on May 2, 1953, in Lyons, New York, Lucie was the daughter of Marilyn and Bernard Schram and the eldest of five children. Lucie was a proud graduate of the Class of 1971 at Lyons Junior-Senior High School and went on to earn a B.S. degree in Business Home Economics from SUNY Buffalo in 1975.

In 1978, she made a bold move to Texas for her first job, working at Southern Fabric at the Galleria in Houston. Not long after, Lucie was introduced to Ronald LaFleur on a blind date arranged by mutual friends where he won her over with his gumbo-an encounter that would lead to a beautiful lifelong partnership. Lucie and Ron were married on May 22, 1982, and shared nearly 43 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and mutual devotion.

Her love for crafting-especially sewing and more recently card making-was more than a hobby; it was her way of bringing beauty, warmth, and joy to others. She spent over 40 years working in the fabric industry, most recently serving as store manager for JoAnn Fabrics before retiring in 2020.

Lucie's greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald LaFleur; her daughter Aimee LaFleur Woychesin and son-in-law Ronald Woychesin; her son Matthew LaFleur and daughter-in-law Brittany LaFleur; and her beloved grandchildren, Cameron Woychesin and Alice LaFleur, who brought light and laughter into her life. She is also survived by her brother Eric Schram and his wife Darlene, her sister Christine Gansz and her husband Ed, and many extended family members and dear friends who cherished her. She was predeceased by her brother Jeffery Schram and sister Bernardine Thorn. Lucie will be remembered for her quiet strength, her unwavering support to her family, and the way she made everyone around her feel special through her personalized crafts.

Lucie was such a sweet person and had a quiet strength that I couldn“t help but admire. I always noticed her love whenever we went to family gatherings. I could see how much effort she put into making so many of these shared events so festive and beautifully decorated! She is and will continue to be loved and missed by so many who were blessed to know her.

I knew Lucie through 4-H. We went to camp together and she was one of my bridesmaids in 1972.

I have many wonderful memories of my dear high school friend! Lucie and I had great times in high school. When we would get together after graduation, we were able to renew our friendship as if we were never apart. I always looked forward to our class reunions. I will treasure my memories. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
