Mark Gehring Obituary

Mark Lawrence Gehring of Willis, TX, was born March 2, 1957 in Story City, Iowa and passed away November 17, 2016 in Conroe, Texas during heart surgery. His most memorable qualities are his humility, his huge and tender heart, his desire to protect, and his deep wish to make the world a better place. His legacy and call to his survivors is a willingness to challenge what seems to be true, to doubt our own assumptions, and to extend tender kindness to all people.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Shirley Boyle Gehring; a teenaged niece, Jonna; aunts and uncles, Jack VanSickel, Edith (Leo Bryant), Grace (Tom Meighan), Ethel (Dale Grimes), and Bob (Lorraine (Boyle). Mark is survived by three siblings, Mary (Con Rees), Russell (Gina, Sandy), Joan Kuhl; nieces and nephews: Nathan Willhite (Tyfani), Stephan (Brandi), Ruschelle (Jeff), Joe (Annie) Kuhl, Ben Kuhl; aunts and uncles Jerry (Marilyn) Gehring, Joy VanSickel, Norma Gehring, Janet Luise (Tom Hickey); and many cousins.

The family wants to recognize Conroe Regional staff for their kindness and quality care and The Ark, his local family and spiritual community. A celebration of his life will be held November 27, 2016 at 1:00 pm at The Ark, 450 Humble Tank Rd, Conroe, TX 77304. Any memorials may be sent to The Ark.

Today is the first I have read this guestbook since my 2016 post. I hadnt seen others posts, but those touch my heart as much as the original condolences, good wishes, and the honoring of him and his life. Maybe more poignantly impacting me now. Thank you for sharing. Many blessings in your life❣

I meet Mark at the Ark church in Conroe, and we had alot in common, we both had no children and we both had weak Hearts, so we encouraged each other their our trials and tribulations. I will miss Mark, and his text messages he would send often.
The evening before his procedure, I received a text from him, his last words were, in Jesus name we are healed! Mark may have had a weak physical heart, but he had a very strong, caring thoughtful heart! God bless your soul Mark!

Oh, Mark. What a sweet soul and what a shock to me. I feel privileged to have known you this last year or two, and to have been with you during some trying times. I will miss that boyish smile, and heartfelt sincerity. I hope you are at peace. No more worries. Just love. Know that you were loved by me. Katie

Just wanted to express the blessing that Mark brought to my life. In the short time I knew him I am blessed to have seen heartache and regrets healed and relationships restored. Truly honored to be part of my brother Mark journey the last year of his life here. Prayers and love for his family at this time.
