Paul Buchanan Obituary

Paul (Bo) Lenyer Buchanan, Jr., age 82, died on Monday, June 23, 2025 in Conroe, Texas at Lewis Park Estates among a caring and loving community.

He was born on February 4, 1943 in Willis, Texas to Paul Lenyer, Sr. and Viola (Keys) Buchanan. Bo graduated from Willis High School and then served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

On August 4, 1972, he married Donna Davis Buchanan. He was a proud father to a daughter and two sons. Bo and Donna enjoyed serving together at the First Baptist Church of Willis, Texas, known for their support of mission work across the world.

Bo worked diligently to support his family - early on, he worked for the Texas Forest Service. Then, he worked as a Corrections Officer at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice from where he retired after many years of distinguished service.

Bo was generous. He served many years as a deacon, spending time with widows and those who were in need. By his actions, he taught others to give generously. Without exception, he thought of others first, often giving to help someone else without regard for himself.

Bo was a follower of Jesus Christ and shared his faith in action by volunteering on countless mission trips, driving youth groups across the nation in service of the ministry. He was also part of the wonderful traditions of gospel music, barbecue, and dominoes.

Bo was deeply dedicated to his family, preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Donna; survived by his children, Viola (Joy) and her husband Chris, Paul and his wife Kristy, Jason and his wife Hope; grandchildren, Erick, Jasmine, Natalie, Kyle, Jonathan, Miranda, Jack, Ryan, Kara, Rachel, Cierra, Emily, Lauren, Audrey, Allie, and Tanner; great-grandchildren Aidan, Xuriela, Castael, Kaeli, and Malia. He is further survived by his loving sister, Shirley Buchanan, his niece Debbie and her husband, Chris Tones.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at 3:00pm at First Baptist Church of Willis, 12177 I-45 N, Willis, TX 77318. Burial will follow at the Willis Cemetery on Cemetery Lane. The family will greet friends at the church before the funeral at 2:00pm until the time of service. The funeral will be live-streamed at https://www.youtube.com/c/FBCWillis

While flowers are appreciated, the family would also appreciate a contribution in lieu of flowers to the "Donna & Bo Buchanan Mission Fund @ FBC Willis, TX". Donations can be made online at https://firstbaptistwillis.churchcenter.com/giving

Grew up next to Paul´s family when he was very young. Reconnected with him at a recent class reunion and enjoyed hearing about his family which he was so proud of. I´m so sorry for your loss.

I have many great memories of Bo! We went to school together and lived close by in Willis! He was a great friend of mine and a wonderful man.
