Peggy Bramblett Obituary

Peggy O'Neill Bramblett, deeply loved by her family and community, passed away in her sleep on September 17, 2022, in Conroe, Texas. She was 89. Peggy left behind her sweetheart of more than 67 years, William Thomas Bramblett, her loving children son John William Bramblett, daughter Ann O'Neill Battaglia and her husband Harold Frank Battaglia, Jr. Peggy was blessed with three grandchildren Erin O'Neill Patrick and her husband Jonathan Scott Patrick, Matthew Ryan Battaglia and Brian Joseph Battaglia, and one great-grandchild Emma O'Neill Patrick.

A native Texan, Peggy graduated from Houston Heights' Reagan High School, and The Rice Institute (University) with honors. After graduation, Peggy taught third and fourth grade.

Peggy was active in the Episcopal Church, and a member of the Rice Alumni Association and the Rice Owen Wister Literary Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a founding member and longtime treasurer of the Alvin Friends of the Library in Alvin, Texas.

Peggy and Bill have been residents of Walden on Lake Conroe for 30 years. Peggy was an active member of the Ladies Association of Walden for 30 years. She was a member of the hospitality committee and served several years as the organization's treasure. Peggy was named Ladies Association of Walden's Women of the year for 2020-2021.

As a longtime member of the Montgomery County West Branch Friends of the Library, Peggy was instrumental in naming the Charles B. Stewart Library in honor of the designer of the Texas flag and early resident of Montgomery as well as being instrumental in determining the library building's design to represent the historical culture of Montgomery. Peggy established the Friends monetary donor tree program and chaired exterior stature acquisitions. She was a Friends of the Library board member for thirteen years, served four terms as president, and co-chaired the 25th-anniversary celebration of the City of Montgomery's library.

Peggy was a passionate outdoors and sportswoman. An avid tennis player, golfer, hiker, and birder. She and Bill taking her passion on the road, traveling domestically and internationally.

A memorial service will be held on October 19 at 11 am at St. James the Apostle Episcopal Church, 1803 Highland Hollow Dr. Conroe, Texas 77304. A lunch reception will follow the service in St. James' parish hall. The family will gather later in the day at St. James' columbarium for a private inurnment.
