Robert Fox Obituary

Robert Lee Fox, 71, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on August 21, 2021, after a short battle with COVID. Robert was born on November 18, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas. He was the youngest son born to Edward P. Fox and Merlyn M. (Lehms) Fox. Robert and his older brother Jimmy loved growing up in San Antonio, Castle Hills specifically. His parents built their family home in 1952 on beautiful property in Castle Hills and he always loved going back home. Robert was raised and confirmed in the Lutheran church and enjoyed attending church with his family. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1968 and attended Texas A&M University Kingsville, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1972. After graduating college, Robert came to Conroe to work for the State Comptroller's Office and worked there until 1986. On March 17, 1984, Robert Lee married Brenda Rae Shanahan at First Baptist Church in Conroe. He was baptized the summer of 1984 at First Baptist and raised his family there. He enjoyed hosting midweek break Bible study for the youth and always hosted Disciple Now for the youth in his home. In the late 1980's he pursued a new career in physical education and was the PE teacher at Creighton Intermediate. In 1990, Robert went back into the business world to work for Stewart and Stevenson which became BAE Systems and retired from there in 2014.

Robert enjoyed the outdoors and shooting guns. He loved hunting and eating big game. He would never miss an episode of Gun Smoke and saw all of John Wayne's movies multiple times. Robert loved to cook and would always be cooking something up in the kitchen. He really enjoyed making homemade breads. His favorite time of year was Christmas and he loved knowing what the grandkids wanted for Christmas. He loved watching their joy as they opened their presents.

Robert is survived by his wife of 37 years, Brenda, step daughter Kara Lea Wilson (Blake) and Katherine Lara Schneider (Stephen), as well as grandchildren - Carrie, Amy Joy, and Emilee Wilson and Kyle, Keelie, Kaleb, and Kiersten Schneider. Poppie enjoyed watching the grandchildren grow up and learning what new activities they were involved in. Robert was preceded in death by brother James (Jimmy) and parents Edward and Merlyn Fox.

Robert was blessed to have met you and made a life together. My condolences to you and the girls and especially the grandkids. Fond memories I will never forget. I lost Bob in 2017 and it seems like it never really happened. Keep yourself strong and live for yourself and your families.

What can I say, except that a good man and friend has left this earth much too soon. He is now looking over us and saying what a good life he had. He knows how much his family and friends loved and admired him and will forever be loved and missed by all. Brenda Bob passed away 11-27-2017. Before he got really sick he had asked that we meet up with our old friends one more time . Unfortunately that was not to be. Now they are talking about the old days and what is next to come. Robert passed away on Bob's birthday (8/21). Hope you and your wonderful family are coping with this tragic loss. It isn't easy but God has called him home.

Luv ya, Wendy
