Billy Ray Taylor, age 78, of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at his home. Born on August 22, 1947, in Morrilton, Arkansas, he was the son of Lyle and Willie Mae Stobaugh Taylor.
Billy Ray spent his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A proud family man through and through, his greatest accomplishments were being a devoted father, a loving poppy, and a loyal friend. He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren and his pets, and he found joy in stock car racing, CB radio conversations, and good old-fashioned people watching.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Marie (Coker) Taylor; his son, Billy Ray Taylor, Jr.; his parents; and two brothers, James Lyle Taylor and Donald Wayne Taylor.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele Berry and her husband John of Dardanelle; two grandchildren, Madison Maekenzie Berry and Hunter RayAlan Berry, also of Dardanelle; and his best friend, Doug Chisum.
A private burial will be held at a later date at East Point Cemetery. A private committal service was held at the new Chapel of Light at the J. Herman Humphrey Dignity Cremation Center, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
