Kelly Jay Stroup, 47, and his faithful service dog, Ava, of Dover, passed away on October 7, 2023, while working in Canada.
Born on August 19th, 1976, in Enid, Oklahoma, Kelly was a graduate of Enid High School and a veteran of the United States Navy. Kelly was the owner and operator of MKS Pilot Car.
Kelly loved his service dog, Ava, and they went everywhere together. His favorite pastimes were working on vehicles, fishing, driving four-wheelers, and spending time having fun with fireworks and relaxing by a bonfire. Kelly is described by his loved ones as a kid at heart, the life of the party, generous to a fault, big-hearted, a daredevil, funny, and a fantastic uncle.
Kelly is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sherry and Allen Blackmon, father, Patrick Stroup, brother, Christopher Stroup, sister, Nikita Jackson, sister-in-law, Emilee Stroup, brother-in-law, David Jackson, nephews, Christian, Logan, Titus, and Bodhi, cousin, Jamie Taylor and numerous other cousins, and close friends, Peter White, Paul Buncy, and Jess Hunt.
Kelly is predeceased by his grandparents, James Stroup, Paula Stroup, and Leslie Don Taylor.
A graveside service to celebrate Kelly's life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Forehand Cemetery, off Linker Mountain Road, in Dover under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
