Morris Cloud Obituary

Dr. Morris L. Cloud finished his course (2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith") on Feb. 22, 2022, at Arkansas Hospice House in Russellville, and now rests from his labors.

He was a resident of Russellville, and resided at the Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center since Sept. 2017. He was a long time resident of Hot Springs County Arkansas.

He was born in Monticello on June 3, 1927, to Thomas Russell and Lila Covington Cloud, the 11th of 12 siblings.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Louise; his mother and father; five brothers and five sisters.

Morris is survived by his three children, Dr. Randy (Sandra) Cloud of Conway, Patricia (Muncy) Harris of Bryant, Dr. Joe (Cheri) Cloud of Russellville; 10 grandchildren, Chris (Stephanie) Cloud, Craig (Amber) Cloud, Dr. Denver (Ashley) Hixon, Jonie (George) Burks, Matthew Hixon, Russ (Keren) Cloud, Mark (Rachel) Cloud, Michael (Ginger) Cloud, Dr. Corey (Cayce) Cloud, Dr. Joshua (Kate) Cloud; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Kyle Hester of Benton.

Morris was a Missionary Baptist Minister for 74 years. He pastored the following Missionary Baptist churches: Pleasant Grove, Hamburg, Harper's Springs, Huttig, Landmark, Mt. Enterprise Texas, Fifth Street, Marlow Okla., Springhill, Springhill, La., Second, Malvern, Mayfair Park, Houston, Texas, First, Bryant, Calvary, Hazen, Glen Rose, Glen Rose, Midway, Donaldson, and Bethany, Atkins.

He started and led a weekly Bible study at Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He preached in several foreign countries including England, Costa Rica, lsrael, and several US states.

He held diplomas and degrees from several seminaries and earned ThB, ThM, and ThD degrees. He served on the Board of Trustees for the Texarkana Baptist Children's Home in Texarkana, Ark., for 50 years – 37 years as chairman and was instrumental in establishing the ABA Ministers' Retirement Center for Pastors, their wives and widows of pastors.

He was a veteran of the Navy in World War II, served on the USS Bogue and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of Russellville Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Russellville Missionary Baptist Church with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Dr. Randy Cloud, Dr. Joe Cloud, Dr. W.A. Dillard, Pastor Michael Cloud and Pastor Daniel Conditt officiating. Burial to follow at Brearley Cemetery, Dardanelle.

Pallbearers will be Chris Cloud, Craig Cloud, Denver Hixon, Matthew Hixon, Russ Cloud, Mark Cloud Michael Cloud, Corey Cloud and Joshua Cloud.

Honorary Pallbearers are Baptist pastors.

The family would like to thank the staff of Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation for their love and care over the past several years.

Memorials may be made to Russellville Missionary Baptist Church, 210 John Trusty Lane, Russellville AR 72801.
