Edward G. Ferenz

FERENZ, Edward G. Age 74 years, of Collingswood, NJ, died on December 19, 2009 at Sunrise Assisted Living, Yardley. Born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, Edward was a 50 year resident of Collingswood, NJ. Edward was raised in Lethbridge, Alberta and he moved to the Philadelphia area in the 1960's where he joined the old Jersey Larks of the Eastern Hockey League as a press and public relations director. He later spent six years as an administrative assistant in connection with the Liberty Bowl Football Classic. In 1967 he became the Philadelphia Phillies regular public address announcer as well as handling the same duties for the Philadelphia Flyers Hockey Club. In the fall of 1967, Edward became the General Manager of the Jersey Devils Hockey Team and in 1969 he was appointed to the position as Traveling Secretary of the Philadelphia Phillies. Edward is the son of the late George and Stella Ferenz, brother of the late Marie Ferenz and he is survived by his brother Donald and his wife Gwendolyn Ferenz of Montreal, Canada, a nephew, Greg and his wife Jackie Ferenz of Yardley, a niece Kelly and her husband Brook Osterhout of Las Vegas, NV and a great nephew, Dane Marleau. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11 AM at St. John Catholic Church, 809 Park Ave, Collingswood, NJ where relatives and friends may call after 10 AM under the direction of the Swartz/Givnish Funeral Home, Newtown, PA, 215-968-3891.
