James Devone Obituary
AGE: 78 • Delaware
James L. Devone, Sr. "Jim", born on August 4, 1935, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2014 surrounded by family. Born in Camden, NJ., and formerly of Cinnaminson, NJ., he retired to Delaware in 1993.
A 1954 graduate of Audubon High School, Jim served in the U.S. Army and retired from work at Verizon (NJ Bell) after 38 years. Jim generously volunteered his time at a local hospital and instructing senior citizens' defensive driving classes while in Seaford, DE. He was an avid golfer, and a car and yard sale enthusiast. His love of sports was evident as he was a little league coach to his sons and a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marie, brother, Joseph, and sister, Theresa. He is survived by his four loving sons, James L., Jr. (Sharon) of Mullica Hill, NJ., Christopher V. (Karen) of Cinnaminson, NJ., Terence M. (Maria) of Fort Mill, SC and Brian S. (Judy) of Cinnaminson, NJ., and his eleven loving grandchildren, Christopher, Terence, Ryan, Christina, Madison, Nicole, Angela, Amelia, Noah, Melissa and Tessa. He is also survived by his former wives, Lorraine E. Devone of Delanco, NJ., and Louise H. Tyndall of Bridgeville, DE. A devoted father and grandfather, and dear friend of many (affectionately known as "Jersey Jim"), he will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
Relatives and friends may visit with family from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 and 9:30-10:30 AM on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad Street, Riverton, NJ 08077. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church, 103 4th Street, Riverton, NJ 08077. Private interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Delmarva Teen Challenge, P.O. Box 1271, Seaford, DE 19973 (www.delawareteenchallenge.org)

Hi , I am sorry to see that Jim has Passed. I was concerned because I hadn't heard from him for awhile. We were email pals and would see each other for dinner occasionaly. I tryed calling and the line was not functioning. Then e mails could not be sent. I am so very sorry to lose a nice man and a good friend. I hope someone is taking good care of his cat also. Jim and I met a year ago last January. He found me on his web searches. We had some fun for awhile and I enjoyed his JerzyJim charm and humor. Although his move separated us, he and I kept up our encounters -- always enjoying his flirty nature. He was one of a kind! I hope that he slipped away easily and that he will have a Miata wherever he is now. May you all recall his great humor and his love of good jokes. Wonder what happened to his beloved "Shami"...
